Seeking your questions for a Sip Mightily mailbag
Because what's a good happy hour without a few things to chat about, make fun of and commiserate on as a crew?
Everyone once in a while on Sip Mightily we like to solicit questions and recommendations from readers in a mailbag column. The mailbags we’ve done in the past have been way more fun than I originally anticipated, so let’s run it back. What’s on your mind?
Discussion topics are up to you: I’m looking for recommendation requests, recommendations for me, burning questions, fantastic ideas and stories filled with general shenanigans and tomfoolery. In the past, we’ve discussed gifts for the groom, comparing Silkk the Shocker to Jim Beam, dieting while enjoying whiskey, and deep diving on cognac better than Hennessy — among other things.
THESE QUESTIONS DON’T HAVE TO PERTAIN TO SPIRITS AND COCKTAILS! Anything will do just fine. Please leave your queries and complaints below, or respond directly to this email, and I’ll respond or reply in a column very soon.
Lastly, a big thank you to you all, for supporting my fun hobby, my dumb tangents and occasionally sending me a virtual cheers.
My dad hosts “Scotchmas” every year once people are in town for Christmas. Close friends and family gather at my parents table for a themed whiskey tasting. It started as just scotch but has branched into anything in the whiskey family. My dad gets to host and share all the research he did about each bottle and the rest of us get to turn off the holiday stress and sit around a table and bullshit with loved ones at least for a couple hours. My question is this: he’ll soon start asking about the theme he should do this year. In the recent past minus Covid we’ve done aged 18 and over (retirement bonus year), Japanese whiskeys, a tour of the different areas of Scotland, blended whiskeys, and everyone bring your favorite bottle to share. I’d love to hear any ideas for themes or even just individual bottles.
